• I hardly getting any comment or referer-spamming these days. Strange! What’s the trend with my fellow bloggers? Do you get less or more?

  • I’m getting so much less, it had me very worried.

    1) Is everything getting caught and I’m missing something? Checked and nope. It looks like most things that need to be caught are, and few real comments nailed by spam catchers.

    2) What are they really up to?

    Mm… Maybe they’re working on a pingback spam scheme.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I was worried too – I guess we are all already so used to fighting spam that it is hard to believe when it gets less.

    Let’s hope that they won’t come up something new and even nastier.

    my ref karma logs haven’t blacklisted anything for days now. I’m hoping it’s not a case of ‘calm before the storm’, but I expect I’ll be proved wrong ??

    I’ve been getting less referral spam since blocking “pinappleproxy” and “ballaire”, and BadBehavior is blocking over 600 automated hits on wp-comments-post.php per day.

    We’ve seen lulls before though … I’m with holographic on this – wonder what’s coming ?

    Same here. Things are quiet.

    Maybe they have become frustrated trying to spam WP users using such varied array of options ??

    I think they are revising their business plan and possibly found a cheaper alternative. Let’s wait and see.

    podz> holographic on this
    Umm.. can you clarify that please. What do you mean by holographic in this context.

    I think it is the calm before the storm.

    Hopefully that cheaper alternative/business plan involves getting a different job in which people might respect you for what you do.

    As for Podz being with holographic, he meant the User “holographic”, who posted earlier in this thread.

    @macmanx: That is still an extremly high number of attempts!

    It would be nice if the blogosphere/users would win at least one battle against spammers. *sniff*

    it HAS slowed down this week, but is still there. but isn’t going 24/7 like usual.

    There’s one guy a lot of mine was coming from, he just keeps creating new URLs, but sending the same crap so it’s automatically stopped. Hopefully he’s maybe running out of money registering URLs that don’t do anything. I’ve been thinking about reporting the URLs for spamming activity to the registrars and see if they’d do something…

    @podz & macmanx
    Thanks for the clarifications.

    @macmanx
    I wish so too ??

    I’m getting about 60 spams a day on the blog… ;^/

    I’m investigating options for controlling the flood!
