This theme has been perfect so far. But, I just went to check the loading times and oh boy is this thing slow!

Even after dequeuing most of the scripts and styles from other plugins on the front page, pingdom.com shows 62 requests! 32 scripts. Now, yes a few of those are other necessary plugins. But, most of those appear to be little script and css files from the theme. Looks like over 20 scripts and about as many stylesheets.

My question is… are all these little style and script files combined in the pro version? I don’t think we can use this free version like this.

Or, can you at least give us a list of the scripts that can be moved to the footer and/or combined, without breaking anything?

I’ve been trying to use Hummingbird Pro to speed things up. But, there are too many assets and anything I try to combine or move just breaks the site.

    Thank you.

Hi, the assets are not combined in the pro version.
We try to load them as much as we can on demand ( for the javascript mostly ).

But yes I agree, loading all those assets is not ideal for performances. This is something that we’ve improved a lot accross the years, but yes there’s still room for optimization.

It is complicated to provide the list of script that you can move in the footer or in the head. Because each website is specific, due to the plugins. A script configuration for one site, could break another one.
I would recommend to try and test several configuration, with a cache plugin if you use one.

    Thank you

I understand it’s a challenge to make a theme that does what everyone wants and keep it simple. That’s unfortunate that the pro version doesn’t combine and minify them all.

Of course it will be a matter of experimentation to see which plugin scripts and styles I can combine or move or defer.

But, I am only asking about which theme scripts and styles can be combined or moved to the footer. Clearly, the theme is dependent on the nimble builder plugin. But, that should be the only one when we’re talking about the theme scripts and styles, no?

Can’t you give us any info on which theme-only scripts/styles can be targeted to speed up the theme? This is the main issue with this theme with all the page speed checkers.

    Thank you
