I am working on a multi-user site. I’m using a plugin through which I have created a from to let users post submissions from the site through a page, without the dashboard. I have hidden the dashboard using a plugin too, as I don’t want users to access it completely.

Now submission of the posts is successful, but the problem is users cannot edit their own posts. The only way to do is through the dashboard, which I won’t want the users access to. So is there any way which lets users edit their posts without using the dashboard?

I found a plugin called Front-end Editor, which is really good but its only for admins and lets them edit all posts regardless of who posted them. Is there anything like that which will allow users to edit their OWN posts?

  • What’s wrong with the dashboard? Roles and capabilities mean that different users with different roles and capabilities get to see different things.

Not true. Front-end Editor requires the exact same capabilities that are required in the admin.

In other words, any user that can edit his own posts through the admin can also edit them using Front-end Editor.

Wow, i noticed a lot of types in my previous post.

@scribu: Thanks a lot! I didn’t realize that I had removed the capability for authors to edit posts. And because of that Front End Editor only worked for me, but now when I log in as a user its working perfectly. Thanks a lot! =)

Excellent list of front end post submission and editors someone suggested to me:

    Hi Everybody,

I have the same shaheershahid’s problem. I’d like to use Driftwood Theme but with this theme user can add n address in the wp-admin like a writing a post…but in this way there is the warming that an user can do damages…he tried to change permissions but i’d like he can’t see the dashboard but only the new post to write….how can i do? is there a plugin or a method to do that?

You can use the PostHaste plugin.
