I am trying to go live with my site hosted by bluehost but am struggling with SSL. The plug-in Really Simple SSL stalls at ‘It is not possible to install Let’s Encrypt on a subfolder configuration. For more information, please read this article’

Reading up, it is not clear to me that I am using any subdomains. Could you explain the problem to me? I have a set up of posts and pages, some with embedded vimeo links.

Bluehost says that certificates are live for the site but doesnt show a https link. This has me pretty confused all round. Thanks for any clarity.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

If Bluehost states that the certificates are live, you don’t need to generate the certificate with Let’s Encrypt.

If you’re not sure if Really Simple SSL has detected the situation correctly, You can check if the Bluehost certificate is installed correctly on https://ssllabs.com/ssltest

Thank you. I have run the test and website gets the green light, yet when I click on any menu item, it is blocked ‘your connection is not private’ and this happens even on the home button.

Is the certificate valid for both www and non www?

If you share your domain, we can take a look.

Thanks, the domain is: [ now in the link field ]

As you will see, I have another problem (though possibly related?) that the live site is only showing a text version when I see the full Hamilton theme in development.

@steviecussons Looking in your source, I see a lot of Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 404 and certificate issues on resources of the site.

    These url’s look like:

    https://box5168.temp.domains/~****/wp-content/themes/hamilton/style.css
    (cert error)

    and
    https://i0.wp.com/box5168.temp.domains/~****
    (404, not existing error).

The 404 looks like it’s something to do with JetPack, or a WordPress CDN or image delivery service.

This temp domain does not have a certificate, so won’t load over https.

If you load your admin over the temp domain, you will get the same certificate error.

I think you need to run a search replace on this temp domain on your site (don’t forget to backup first!).

    Hi @steviecussons,

your site does seem to be secure now, did you manage to fix the issue?

Sorry, I should have closed this. It appears to have been a hosting problem with going live and Bluehost solved it instantly. Thanks for the assistance.
