Letter ? in uploads changed into ‰

  • Hello,

    I have a problem, some of the files (too many files) in my uploads have changed the letter “?” to this ‰. Now they are not showing in front end.

    Did anybody have the same issue?

    How can i change that ‰ to ? without having to go to every file one by one?

    You’re displaying static textual file content in the WP front end? That’s rather unusual. The problem is possibly due to a charset encoding mismatch between the files and WP pages. Textual content used within WP should normally be encoded as UTF-8. If there is a mismatch there’s little to do other than re-saving the files using the correct charset encoding.

    If you request a file outside of WP, do the characters display correctly? If you copy/pasted the textual file content into a new WP page, do the characters display correctly?
