Ok, if the host says that the IP address of the server is correct, then that should be safe, and the warning is probably due to the dns_get_record() function not working. The reason that it should work is so that the Wordfence scan can tell if there have been malicious changes. Wordfence may use that function in a couple other places, which might cause other warnings.

If it was this Facebook plugin:
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/simple-facebook-plugin/
… that shows 4 months since the last update, that isn’t too bad. Some plugins will be much older than that and still work, but it might be a relatively new problem they just haven’t fixed yet.

You probably should upgrade Java if you do have an old version — it’s good that Firefox is disabling it though. I don’t use Java anymore, myself. There are very few sites that require it (and it is separate from JavaScript, so no worries about that.)

I still can’t tell if the script issues are coming from your site, or your browser. I think it’s hard to hide malware in Firefox these days, but it may still be possible. I would try using Malwarebytes on your PC (from malwarebytes.org), which is very good at finding malware, even with the free version.

If that comes up clean and you still get the script warnings, then it could be some bad files on your site loading the scripts from other sites — if that’s a possibility, you may want to follow this guide:
How do I clean my hacked site using Wordfence?

There are a lot of steps, and some you may not have access to do on your host, but this is a thorough way to check the site.

Thank you so much, Matt R.!

So sorry I miswrote that word, it has to be ‘deprecated’ – that’s what happened with that Simple Facebook Plugin (you linked to the right one). Even with the ‘alternate’ version of this plugin Wordfence scrolled as stuck in mud ??

With the new FBplugin your beautiful Wordfence works again as smoothly as before (although the booxalive pages with it, load very slow): e.g. https://booxalive.nl/co-create-booxalive/

And finally, I scanned my laptop with your Malwarebytes, they found 4 items:
    – 2 x PUP.Optional.TornTV (one is: key)
    – PUP.Optional.crossrider
    – PUP.Optional.Freemake.video.converter.plugin (I know and sometimes use this one, but I have that one inactivated, I activate that if necessary).

I couldn’t find if those are to be afraid for. Anyway, Malwarebytes have put them in quarantaine.

Anyway, I guess my core problem with Wordfence is resolved (and I am exhausted by all those strange new findings).

    Many thankful greetings,
    Magda

Ok, great. Hopefully the other social plugin will be updated to run more smoothly, so you can switch back, too.

The “PUP” files that were found were possibly the cause for the script errors you were getting. Usually when they’re labeled PUP, they’re not terribly harmful, but could affect privacy, and may have been installed on your PC without your knowledge (which is bad enough, in itself!)

Glad to hear Wordfence is working smoothly again!

    Dear Matt R,

So nice of you to explain those nasty puppy’s.
All seems normal and quiet now on my PC.

So the case is resolved and my gratitude is boundless!
    Wordfence is The King!!

    My best wishes,
    Magda from rainy Amsterdam
