Lightbox effect not working?

@dustindriver – According to the Chrome Developer tools there appears to be some sort of permissions issue reaching the plugin’s core files. Can you check to ensure all your WordPress installation is using the proper file and folder permissions and those permissions are being correctly inherited?

Hmm. Checked permissions, they were set to 755. I even changed them to 777. Still no go…

@dustindriver – The access errors are still there … have you looked at anything that may be restricting access to your site such as some sort of security plugin for example?

There is also the possibility that the plugin’s installation may be corrupted and you may need to manually re-install via FTP over-writing all files and folders under the /nextgen-gallery/ folder.

I downloaded a new version of the NextGen Gallery plugin and uploaded it to my server via FTP. Still getting the 403 error. Any other suggestions?

Well, I guess I’ll have to switch to something else. I’m done trying to solve this. Everything checks out. The plugin should be working. It’s not. Oh well.

@dustindriver – Unfortunately it still appears your site is not allowing NextGEN Gallery to access is own files (IIRC, there are much fewer errors being reported) … have you checked with your web host to ensure there are no underlying issues with your site on their end?

PS: Have you tried using the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Options?

Just tried the reset options… nothing. Called my hosting provider, there are no restrictions to that directory.

Please help, this is so frustrating. I’m *this* close to just rebuilding the whole site using CSS.

@dustindriver – The good news is I am only seeing one error in the console now but it is still a significant one as it is not allowing NextGEN Gallery to initial the Lightbox.

A couple of things to try … go to Gallery > Other Options > Lightbox Effects. Choose a different effect and save; then go back and choose the one you want to use … and save again.

You can also try temporarily switching to a default WordPress Twenty series theme to see if the problem continues.

So when I switch to a basic theme, it works. Something’s wrong with the child theme I created. Ugh.

@dustindriver – Sorry to read this is in your Child-Theme, that can be a bear to sort out at times. I hope you are able to get it sorted out.

Okay, so I needed to reset the options (thanks for the suggestion!) and add some stuff to my funky homemade child theme. Now it works beautifully!

Thanks for working with me, I purchased the yearly subscription and I’ll stick with it.

Now I just need to update my photos. ??
