lightbox image not closing

  • Hi, Love the theme!

    One problem I’m having is that when I select “Enable lightbox effect on images” there is no obvious way to close the image and continue reading the post.

    I know that I can use the back button on in my browser but some folks viewing my site have posted comments indicating that, to them, it was a problem with the site.

    My quick fix was to just disable the lightbox effect – but I have since re enabled it so that this post made more sense – https://blog.thoughtstream.ca/

    It’s not a child theme (I know, it should be, getting to that soon) and there has been no customization other than some plugins that have been activated for months.

    Is there a way to add a close function indicated with a X or something?

  • Hi jamie, the thing is that… that “X” there should be by default, look here: https://demo.themesandco.com/images-test/
    Click on a picture, you can see the “x”.
    So the problem is, why is not there for you?
    I can tell you that the “x” is there but isn’t displayed.
    In my opinion there’s some conflicting plug-in.

    Thanks for responding ?? I thought it should be there…

    I deleted 5 non-essential plugins and the only ones remaining are critical to the site performance and security.. and they are all pretty well known, common plugins.. I can try deactivating them one by one and then quickly reactivate them.. scares me though lol

    If you want me to guess.. probably jquery-updater could be the “bad” ??

    Now to figure out what the jquery updater was doing that seemed so critical…. I have to document more :-/

    Yes, it’s a conflict with the jquery version used by the fancybox of customizr and the one of that “bad” plug-in :D.
    So I guess you solved, would you mind marking this topic as resolved?
