• Hi,

I’ve used updraftplus for ages and it just works I never have to worry about it.

Every 5 months or so I end up doing a bit of maintenance to keep my cpanel disk quote under by quota.

I have notice that updraftplus takes up 28.12 MB which is a lot for me.

Can anyone recommend and as good backup solution with a smaller footprint ?

Updraft Plus just zips up your files. Another backup plugin would have the same footprint.

Have you considered using Updraft Plus store your backup on a cloud storage? Keeping a backup on your site is counterproductive. If you lose the site you lose the backup.

Great point, thank you. I use Google Drive for other backups. Looking at it, the premium version is required which is a lot of money for a small personal website.

Any thoughts on cheaper alternatives which link to Google Drive. Hand free is ideal of course but maybe even manual steps that I could do every 3 months, that might work.

    Hi boardtc,

Please check again. I use the free version of Updraft Plus to backup to Google Drive. That’s one of the reasons I chose it over other backup solutions.

Thanks for the steer! I checked it out and I had it all hooked from before! I deleted the local backups and the footprint dropped to 11.79MB. Is there any way to set it so the schedule only backups to remote and does not keep a local copy?

I misread, updraftplus is still 28.12MB, 13.8MB used for the languages sub directory, there should be no issue in deleting all these?
