I use the like button on a self-hosted website and after the 14 January update, it’s been stuck on loading (both the like button for posts and the comments one). I tried every suggestion from past topics (clearing caches, reactivating etc.), but nothing works and I’m stuck.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there,

It might also be a plugin conflict. Try temporarily deactivating all your plugins and check if the problem is resolved that way. If it works, then reactivate each plugin one-by-one to find out which one is causing problems.

I am having the same issue but not on every post it is on a few, and will not load no matter what I do, tried deactivating all plugins and turning them on one by one, to no avail, even done the cache thing, still the same, can anyone help please.

What is the URL of the site with the problem?

I’m not seeing any problem there myself.

First, please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Hi there. If you click the link at the top. Scottish History you will see on several pages the like button is constantly loading, I tried everything you said but it is still the same? why is it only on some posts and not them all?

Hi @grayfriar, I am the OP and in my case, the issue was caused by the Lazy Load function of the Smush plugin. I know you said you tried deactivating the plugins and this might not help you, but I know how frustrating the issue is. It took me days to figure it out. I hope you get it sorted. P.S. I live in Scotland myself, so I might be a tad biased, but your website is amazing!

It’s definitely loading consistently there for me in Firefox 74.

@skinnyspatula thanks a lot, very kind of you to say, it must be my browser then because the like button is def not showing up.

@macmanx hmm weird, I might try firefox then, I am using the very latest google browser utd. I will let you know if that works, and thank you for all your help.

Thanks, please let us know how it looks under that.

Also, which version of Chrome were you using?

OMG! Smush lazy load! that was what it was for me! thank you thank you thank you!

Yes, Smush lazy load sorted my issue too.

So I went to Smush settings> lazy load> and turned off lazy loading for single posts and pages. Then it started showing Like buttons instead of ‘loading’

    Please folk, help me too!

It’s so annoying! The like button is loading endless… https://www.zickson.com
I tried clearing of cache, deactivate all plugins but couldn’t help.
