• I like this plugin. It is very useful for backing up a site directly to google drive..something I was looking for. But there is a large BUT. It wants to backup the plugins each and every time there is an update, with no setting to say no, or dialog box that allow you to skip it. It can be annoying. I understand why they did it, but it is not my work flow. It is very annoying.

My solution is to disable the plugin and disallow automatic backups. I only enable it, when I am ready to do backups. Since I don’t allow automatic plugin or word press updates on any of my sites, this works. Every two weeks I manually go through all sites, back it up and then update accordingly.

    Hi,

    Thank you for the review.

There is an option to disable automatic updates, in the UpdraftPlus settings.

If you scroll to the bottom of the settings page and press “Show expert settings” inside there will be a checkbox to disable automatic backups before an update.

    Don’t forget to save settings.

If you don’t want to permanently disable automatic backups before an update, then there should also be a notice on the WordPress updates page with a checkbox labeled:

“Automatically backup (where relevant) plugins, themes and the WordPress database with UpdraftPlus before updating”

Uncheck this to disabled updates one time (e.g you have to uncheck this every time you visit this page).

You can see a screenshot of what this notice is supposed to look like here:

If the above does not work for some reason then please do open a support request here:

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley
