Liked it, but small issues bothered me
-
I was super happy when I originally found a theme designed just for authors. I still like this theme a lot, but the longer I used it the more little things about it bothered me.
Like the small issue of using posts to feature on their home page sections rather than pages – which really disrupts the flow if you have an actual blog alongside the site, because you have to use certain specific images for the header that you might not for the rest of the regular posts. Not sure if the paid version allows for pages, but the free one uses only posts.
Or the “About Admin” at the bottom of every page, instead of saying “About Author” (which you’d expect to be the default, in a theme called Author Landing Page).Support was nice and helpful when I inquired on how to add a background to a custom post type and I’m really grateful for that, but when it came to changing the word “Admin” for “Author” (or “Me” or anything tangentially less generic than “admin”) they said it could only be done on the pro theme. I don’t mind paying for a theme when I’m able to, I like supporting people for their hard work, but I feel like this should have been a default, and I’m not shelling out $60 to change just one word in the whole theme, so my experience there was a little ruined.
If the “About Admin” wording doesn’t bother you (or you can spare the money to change it) and you don’t plan on having a blog along your author page, I still think this is a great theme choice for authors who want a simple site to showcase their works.
