limit amount of characters in description

We don’t have this in core plugin, but we do support it in our Featured Levels module: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/premium-modules/featured-levels-module/

How can one limit the amount of characters in a field just for the excerpt listing? For example, we have a field called short description only shown in excerpt. We need to limit the characters in this text area because some listers post a huge description there. On the lister’s own detail page it doesn’t matter. We need to limit it only in the excerpt. Can you tell me how to do this? Can I do this manually in a php file? If so, which php file do I access???

One more questions, how can we put the ratings below the business name? See

there is an issue here. We have set the threshold of ratings to 1 and instead of showing nothing, it shows this annoying text: Rating (average):(More feedback needed)

We want it to show nothing, or change text to No ratings yet
We want it in a different place than at the very top, that doesn’t look right. Most products or other types of listings show the star rating BELOW the name of the product or listing, not above!
We would like some control of where to put it and edit the default text.

For your ratings issue, we don’t have a way to move the ratings field around at the moment. We’re going to add support for that in a future release. You may be able to work with it using our custom templates, but I don’t know you will get the full control you want above.
