Limit Characters in the first page

  • You have the “more” tag in your Write screen… you have the_excerpt template tag (to make it automatic).
    By first page you mean the main index?

    Yes, i mean the main index…the problem with the solution you are telling me, makes that the “more” tag also appears on the rss…and wath I want is that just in the main index the text appears “incomplete” in the archive (categories) and in the rss it has to appears complete.

    Yes.
    There is a plugin that makes rss feeds “complete” = full text, if you use the ‘more’ tag.

    The other option, as I said: edit the index.php file in your theme – and replace the_content tag with the excerpt.
    Leave the_content in the archive.php file.
