Jacob, this is not an error or even an issue. If it’s not there in this very flexible app, you might consider it as a small development suggestion.

In the “Edit album information” page, where I can scroll to the photos in the album and edit each photo, there’s a drop down list with all existing tags. This list is populated from table 9.A.11 or from existing tags in old photos. The later would be nice to limit. Would it be possible to only populate the drop down list from table 9.A.11 and by that get rid of old tags not longer in use, without having to delete the tags from all photos?

I understand your needs, and i am willing to implement it.
    I have just one question:

Are the users – when the limitation is active – still capable to enter possibly new or old tags that are not in the dropdown list, OR must the input be stripped from possible tags that do not exist in the Table IX-A11 list?

Jacob, I’m not sure I fully understand your question. I think the best way would be that all users, except admin, only can select tags from the drop down list. Then I can control exactly what tags to select from by managing the list in IX-A11. What do you think, would that be a good idea?

That answers my question. Thanx. Will be implemented in probably the next version.

While coding… I found the following solution for you without any changes to be made:

    – Tick Table VII-C9 ( New tags restricted Creating new tags requires admin rights )
    – Go to Table VIII-B14: Edit tag.
    – For all the tags that you want to get rid off (system wide, so removed from photos and from the list): select such a tag, leave the Change to: box empty and press the Start! button.

From now on, only the existing tags including those in the minimum tag list, may be used, and you got rid of the old ones.
Would this be sufficient in your case?

Sorry Jacob, but deleting all old tags from all old photos would leave us without search history to old work. I have already figured out and ruled out this idea as a general solution. I have already done this for old tags we can live without. The way we would like to have it is keeping all important tags on all old photos, and stil presenting a conviently short tag list for taging new photos. Our tag list is long now as we don’t want to delete important tags from old photos, even if the tag relates to an old and closed project. But if this is a need that just we have and if it’s hard to code, let’s drop it. We have lived with this long tag list for a while, so we will survive without the luxuary of shortening the list. It is easy for me to code that only the pre-defined tags are shown in the dropdown list while having Table VII-C9 ( New tags restricted Creating new tags requires admin rights ) ticked. So i will do that. No problem.

    Fixed 7.3.02:

New setting: Table IX-A11.1: Show minimum tags only. Shows only the tags defined in Table IX-A11 in the selection box on the photo admin page.
Note that it is recommended to tick Table VII-C9: New tags restricted, if you want to prevent the creation of new tags by non-adminstrators.

I have updated with the latest version and I have checked the IX-A-11.1 box. It all works fine when coming to photo editing. The Drop Down list is just as fine as we had hopes for.

But entering a new tag in the IX-A-11 list doesn’t have impact on the Selection Page. My short code is:

    [wppa type=”multitag” taglist=”Kategori ?vrigt Urbant,Kategori Minimalism,Kategori Osk?rpa,Kategori Mina Kvarter,Topp1,Topp2,Topp3,Topp4,Topp5,Galleri1,Kategori Gatufoto,Fotograf Anders K?llén,Fotograf Ulf Nygren,Fotograf Anders Kallen,Fotograf Marie Bohm,Fotograf Olle Robin,Fotograf Mahshid Rasti,Fotograf Irina Johansson,Fotograf Hans Wahlgren,Fotograf Elizaveta Pronina,Fotograf Barbro Lindh,Fotograf H?kan Wahlén,Fotograf Clas ?berg,Fotograf Elisabeth Hellstr?m,Fotograf Birgitta Bratthall,Fotograf Anders Bergh,Fotograf Marika Lindbom,202001,202002,202003,202004,202005,202006″][/wppa]

The first “Kategori ?vrigt Urbant” is new in the IX-A-11 list. Shows up fine in the Drop Down list, but not in the selection page. And I have entered this new tag on an old photo if photo representation should be required.

    Why doesn’t it show?

I can not reproduce this. If the same tag is in Table IX-A11 and in the shortcode attribute, it shows up in the multitag box ( I even tried ‘Kategori ?vrigt Urbant’, see https://betatest.opajaap.nl/test-pagina/ ) even when there is not yet a photo with that tag.

Maybe you need to clear your caching plugin?

    (@hans-wahlgren)

I’ll tell you what I just found out.

IX-A11 is OK and when I select ‘Kategori ?vrigt Urbant’ from the drop down list on a photo nothing happens in the selection page, BUT if I type in ‘Kategori ?vrigt Urbant’ on a photo, then this new alternative shows up in the selection page. So, selecting a new tag from the drop down list doesn’t make the alternative show, byt typing in the same new tag makes it show. Anyway, the typeing alterantive is a workaround, so I’m happy.

I added ‘Kategori ?vrigt Urbant’ on my dev site in Table IX-A11 and in the taglist=..” shortcode attribute.

Now i selected ‘Kategori ?vrigt Urbant’ on the dropdownlist and it showed up in the photo tags: https://betatest.opajaap.nl/multi-tagged-foto-s/?wppa-album=0&wppa-cover=0&wppa-occur=1&wppa-tag=Kategori+%C3%96vrigt+Urbant

    So, to me it works…

    Jacob, sorry for late reply.

I’ve done the same setting, I believe. But something is missing. I have “Kategori ?vrigt Urbant” in IX-A11 and if I type the tag on a photo I get a hit in the search page, but if I populate the tag on a photo from the drop down list, I don’t get the hit in my search page. Am I missing some setting?
