In the past I have not had any problem with the import from Excel tables including rows beyond the data; today I’ve encountered the problem. I had an Excel (2013) spreadsheet with 21 rows of active data which when imported was 84 rows long. When inserted in the page, It left a long blank spot as you can imagine. Is there anything that can be done to limit the Excel import to just the rows with active data?

    Hi,

thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

As the Excel import is still experimental and not that robust, I assume that it simply has problems detecting the correct number of rows here.
The easiest solution should therefore be to save the table to a CSV file in Excel and then import that into TablePress.
As an alternative, you could simply delete the extra rows after importing the Excel file. If you use the multi-select (by clicking the checkbox of the first extra row, then holding down the “Shift” key, and clicking the last checkbox), that should also be quite fast.

    Regards,
    Tobias

Thank you for your prompt response. I tried both of your suggestions. Exporting to .csv yields the same result (80+ rows). However, I had forgotten the multi-select, which is a reasonable solution. Thank you.

    Hi,

if the CSV file also contains 80+ rows, there must be something in the Excel file that’s causing this, I assume.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias
