    Hi,

I am evaluating Paid Memberships Pro for a project in which users have to pay a membership in order to access video content. We currently offer a 7-day-trial for both monthly and anual membership levels. I was wondering if there is a way to limit access to lets say just 3 videos out of a whole category of video content for people that are on the 7-day-trial period of their membership. I know I could create a free membership level that only has access to those 3 videos out of of a larger category and then have it expire after 7 days, but what I would like to know is if it is possible to identify if a paid membership level is on its trial period and limit content accordingly until the trial ends and then the user can access the video content of the whole category.

Thank you very much in advance. Your plugin is easily one of the best membership plugins I have found and so far has covered most of the use cases we are aiming at.

    Best,

    Paulo

    Hi Paulo

Thank you for using Paid Memberships Pro and for your kind words.

You can limit specific content, instead of an entire category by editing the content, and scrolling down to the ‘Require Membership’ meta box where you can then select a specific level, such as your trial level.

If your videos are in a different post type, other than a post, you’d need to use this recipe to extend the meta box onto other post types:

    Hi Jarryd,

Thank you very much for your reply. I understand your solution would need to add a ‘Trial’ membership level to our system. What if I want to limit access to certain amount of content only during the trial period (7 days in my case) of a membership level that is already setup to be billed monthly o anually after the trial period ends? After the trial period is done the membership should gain access to the rest of content of that category.
Let me know if the use case is more clear now.
And again, thank you for your time to solve this doubts.

    Best,

    Paulo

    Thanks for your feedback @pauloguerraf.

You can go about doing this in two ways:

    1) Setting up a separate trial level: Members can sign up for the level without a credit card, it expires after 7 days, but they then need to manually sign up for the next level

    2) Create a level with a trial in it: Members will have to enter in credit card details upon signing up. If they don’t cancel within the first 7 days, they’ll automatically be billed.
