    Hello,

In this plugin, Attribute mapping is quite limited.

Also, I understand that you guys are professional techincal developers, and might miss how we use category, gender, Age_group.

    1. There are no categories like Men, Women, Kids on a site, these terms are actually used for user-friendly purpose, but we never group product they that way.
    2. We usually group product by Cloth, shoes, Backpack…etc with product categories, that means Male and Female, Adult and Kids might included in a specific product categories, for example, there are shoes for Men and women, adult and kids.
    3. So, it is impossible to auto map Gender and Age_group like the way your example:

    https://woocommerce.com/document/google-for-woocommerce/attribute-mapping/#how-to-map-age-group

    https://woocommerce.com/document/google-for-woocommerce/attribute-mapping/#how-to-map-gender

    4. How the menu of Men and Women, kids work?

Firstly, we actually set Gender and Age_group in product attributes:

    https://prnt.sc/SQ_EeplmJRLJ

on the menu of Kids, we actually set the item with woocommerce product filter URL: https://mysite.com/shop/?filter_age_group=kids&query_type_age_group=or

    5. How the Attribute mapping should work?

Also, we still need the function of Attribute mapping even if both Age_group and Gender were already set in product level.

Why? because some variable item might be unisex, some might be Female even in a specific variable product. To submit more specific value of Gender to a variable SKU in a variable product when upload feeds to Google, we still need attribute mapping, and here is an example:

    https://prnt.sc/eDqiQFfUfd_n

This variable product is basically with Unisex, and you might note There blue, black, green colors, but you might note that there is still a color of Pink.

A men might wear a red smartwatch, but no men will wear a Pink watch, so the Pink one should be Female.

So, we need dynamically assign Female to any products no matter it is Cloth, shoes or a smartwatch.

    5. To understand how we use dynamically assign Gender, please check the screenshot below:

    https://prnt.sc/dm2ekJNrZ_q7

    Feature request:

Also, there might difference mapping requirements between or among different categories, and It would be great if it support create dynamic mapping rules, so that we assign a specific mapping rules on a specific categories accordingly.

    Thanks

    Hey there @alexli126 ,

Thanks for taking the time to share your concern about the extension, and it looks like you are running into issues on your store configuring these Attributes. While I understand you have attributes, setup on your store for your needs, It’s not clear if you have configured categories to map these products against these Attributes with Google.

Google For WooCommerce maps attributes (Google merchant centre) with Categories of products in your store. Example here, i.e Adults are mapped against category of Accessories, Clothing and Apparel. If you note, Adults aren’t mapped against attributes, but category.

Because it’s mapping attributes along with categories, you are essentially limited by the no of categories you create. Here is an example use case for configuring the Age group. You are welcome to check the document for other use cases as well. While it’s understandable that you can’t automatically, assign a variation of pink to Adult/men category, you would be able to specifically edit this variation and assign it to Female in its own settings for Google for WooCommerce, in the variations option.

Do keep us posted on how that works and if you have any edge case scenarios, please share them with us, and we can review the same and help you further.
