Limiting number of items that can be purchased

Hello all, I need to limit the number of items that someone can purchase on my website. I have not publicly posted my ecommerce part to my site yet but I will shortly. I want the customer to only be able to purchase one product in each transaction. So when they order, they only can only purchase one unit of one product. For example, If I have three separate products that I am selling, I want the consumer to only be able to buy only one product and only one unit of that product. Any suggestions?
