Limiting text in widget and see all text in Page

    Hi! Using Version HMS Testimonials 2.0.7. I want to limit the characters for a testimonial in the sidebar (to 100 characters) using the rotator capability and have all the text display on a testimonial page non-rotating.
    I saw that you suggested adding limit=50 to the shortcode in another past. I did this with the following code, but it showed all text.[hms_testimonials_rotating template=”13″ order=”display_order” limit=”100″]. I also tried limit=100 without the quotes. It didn’t work.

    Hi skippywp,

    The limit attribute limits the number of testimonials not the number of characters. I like the idea though and will be adding it in when I return from vacation in 2 weeks.

    Yes! That would be great to add a limit the number of characters or words in the widget with a read more right after the cutoff and then the full text for the testimonial page. Limiting the number of words would be more elegant then an abrupt cut-off based on the number of characters. Or perhaps providing a way to show an excerpt in the widget and then the full text in the testimonial page. Just a couple of ideas after you get back from vacation. ??

    I have added the ability to limit by number of words and characters. When I release the update in the next day or so the word_limit and char_limit attributes will be accessible. At this time you will see a “…” for testimonials that go over the amount of words or characters. “Read More” and a link to a page are not yet implemented.
