Line Break between posts…

This might be a stupid question, but I’m definitely a newbie at this. I have been modifying a theme to use WordPress as a small scale CMS…and I have a small issue on the front page.
In the middle column, according to the default, there should be one post from each category. I only have two categories, so to take up space, I wanted to do more than one post for each. They feel pretty smashed together, and I would like to add a simple line break between each post, but I’m unsure how to do so.
Is this possible? If so, how?
