• I know this topic was raised 4 years ago (WP version 2.6), but the problem has not been resolved.

I use Paypal to sell products online. When I copy the HTML code into text mode, WordPress adds line breaks and paragraph tags where I don’t intend there to be any. When I delete them in Visual mode, it deletes my code and the shopping cart does not work.

I have been able to get around this by copying the HTML code into the Textfixer tool and then copying/pasting into WordPress, but it is time consuming. I would have expected this bug to have been fixed after it was notified 4 years ago.

  • It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.

But seriously, that’s why there’s two editors. One to be a “what you see is what you get” editor, in which case the code has to make a lot of decisions for you and do its best to figure out what you’re trying to do, and another as a “literal” html editor. If you’re pasting in html.. why not paste it into the html editor?

I am sorry if I didn’t make myself clear – originally I did copy and paste my HTML code into the HTML editor (text mode). Then I updated the page, and then the extra lines appeared.
