    Hi:

I’ve been having this bit of an odd behavior since 2.5 and I can’t quite see why.

I generally write my posts in a text editor or word processing software (Word, TextEdit, etc.) Then I convert to plain text (Mac line endings) and paste into the body area (then edit for links, etc…).

When I do, I notice that my paragraphs (line breaks) become <div>...</div> and when I view the page (I’ve tested 4 or 5 browsers on Mac and Windows) the post comes out with no line breaks and virtually unreadable.

I usually go and add <p> or <br /> myself, but that seems like too much.

Is there a way I can make the line breaks work when I add them with a return in the visual editor?

Thank you for any help and advice!

Never use Word for WordPress posts, you’ll just get bad code and gremlins. I write my posts offline using TextEdit (rtf), but I don’t add any TextEdit formatting or paste in text from other applications, and it works fine. Format your posts with WordPress only and make sure that you are not switching back and forth between the visual and html editors (doing so will mess up your code).

In WordPress, one return gets you a line break and two returns gets you a new paragraph.

    iridiax: thanks!

I don’t paste from Word – I’ve had that problem a bit too often. I use TextEdit, text only format and then format in WordPress as you suggest.

But even then, when I use multiple returns to try to create a paragraph, it simply doesn’t, returning my post to line-breaks only and no paragraph breaks when I save.

The behavior you describe is what i want, but not what happens, sorry.

    Any other thoughts?
