Line Spacing Issues!

Why when I hit return in the text box, it does not let me leave space between lines?!

This is the most frustrating thing about wordpress. I have tried to fix this in numerous versions, using various browsers, and different themes. Through all the advice and changes, I can still not get this simple thing to work!!! (that is my frustration coming through…)

All I want to do is what I am doing in this post. Write a paragraph…

…hit enter a couple of times…

and have some simple spacing!

Is that too much to ask, WordPress?! In all your glory, could you not fit spacing into your elaborate plans and upgrades?

If there is a fix to this, I would greatly appreciate any help!
