Layout for Album Index Page

Hi all,
I have a camera club website where we store our competition images in separate portfolio albums by month of entry.
I love the masonry look within each album, but on the “index” page, the masonry layout makes it hard to navigate month by month. A single column layout might work better there, or a simple grid.
I have found the masonry vs single colum “switch” in the settings, but that seems only to control the portfolios themselves, and doesn’t seem to affect the index page showing all the albums.

Is there any way to change the layout of the index page?
