lines of codes prevent access to dashboard

    Hi,
    I’m running for an artist her WP site. I do not remember which version of WP it is, it’s from 2007 and I do not think it was updated since (very bad….).

    The access to the dashboard is not possible anymore. Login works fine but then instead of the dashboard only lines and lines of codes are filling the screen…

    The same lines are visible on the top of the blog: https://www.soizicstokvis.net/

    It looks like there is a lot of things that got wrong. FTP access is ok but I do not know what to do!

    ok thanks you James, still I have one question.

    – There are some files which should not be deleted.
    – Then the step 8. is to upload the new files.

    My question is, should I upload all the files or all except the ones I did not delete?

    upgrade to 2.9 has worked! great!

    Upload and replace everything *except* the wp-config.php file and the contents of the wp-content directory.
