• Hello,

I have just updated my 2023 theme to 1.4, and the color of all the links on posts has changed from the previous blue to black. My own old note says the color of links in post contents are set in Styles->Colors->Palette->Color Options->Secondary, and when I look at it, it is set to blue.

What am I doing wrong? I am really a primitive user, so I apologize if this is a stupid question but I appreciate if someone could teach me how.

    Thank you,

  • Hello,

Just to add that I too am experiencing this problem; it has changed the colour of all my links on pages and posts and my attempts at changing them back have failed via the Styles options as you have stated as well.

I would be grateful for the solution as well please.

    Many thanks,

Hi there, could you please confirm if you tried to change it to a different color, then back to the expected color? Also, could you share a link to your site, so I can check it?

    Hi Felipe,

I don’t seem to be able to change any links to any color, for that matter. No matter what I select, it stays black. For instance in the below page the title link of each post in the query loop used to be blue, and now they are all black and I cannot change it back to blue.

As I mentioned in my original message I didn’t know how to change the link color a year ago, and someone taught me in this forum that the color was dictated by the secondary color. However the same method doesn’t work any more.

    Thank you for your help.

Can you confirm if you have any CSS added to it?

You can check by going to the Site Editor, then Styles. There you can click on the three-dot icon (kebab menu), and go to Additional CSS:

    https://d.pr/i/Yox1tm
    Full Size: https://d.pr/i/Yox1tm

I was wondering if you have it forcing specific colors from there. If you have CSS there, please copy/paste it here.

Also, please do check if maybe your hosting is maybe not saving the change because of object cache — they should be able to confirm this further.

    Hi Felipe,

    Thank you for your reply.

No I don’t have any additional CSS. My site is super simple with no customization (I don’t have enough skills). It doesn’t have any plugins other than security ones like login and file-change monitors either.

Object cache is not an issue either. I cannot change link color at all in my dev environment on LocalWP on my PC either, since v1.4 update. I can change text color though, so I am wondering I am just missing something, perhaps the new way of changing link color or something, but I cannot figure out how.

    Thank you,

Hey @kenguiche ! Can you try going to Styles -> Colors, and try changing the option for ‘Link’ (as shown in my screenshot below:

    Hi Kavya,

As I have been mentioning in my previous messages, I cannot change link colors through “Style->Colors->Link”. No matter what I choose, it stays black.

Again, I seem to be able to change the colors of other elements like texts, but the link color won’t change no matter what I choose.

    Thanks,

Hey @kenguiche ! Have you tried replicating this behaviour on a different site, or in a different/local environment? You can use WP Playground or something like InstaWP for this.

    Hi Kavya,

Yes, as I already mentioned in my previous message, I have a dev environment on LocalWP on my own PC. The result is the same.

Hey @kenguiche ! Are you still seeing this issue? I tested again in a fresh environment, and I’m still not able to reproduce. I recorded a short video that shows the process of changing the link color.

If you still have this issue, I’d recommend testing on a different browser and/or device next, just to rule out anything there.
