Link from button – only shows one image

Hi there, I’m playing around with the lite version of your plugin – it looks good, I’m trying to open a gallery with a link, I’m adding the code in post. The link works, but it doesn’t show my gallery correctly, I’m just getting the first image in the gallery. Can you help me with what I’m doing wrong? Here’s what I’m doing:

<div "#" style="display:none;">
[foogallery id="296" template="thumbnail"]    
</div>

…and then
<button onclick="jQuery('#foogallery-gallery-296 a:first').click();" href="#">BTN TXT</button>
