• I have just installed Link Harvest 1.0 by Alex King
    I am running WP2.1.1
A while after starting harvest I am getting this error message:

The link harvest failed, make sure you have harvesting enabled in your options.

Harvest actions are enabled, prototype.js is on its place.

    Any help?

  • The debug scripts worked great! They wrote to the text file and let me know what URL was causing the issue. Turns out, it was large media files the script was hitting. Since I don’t care too much about those links, I simply added the domain to the “Link Harvest Options” page for the ignore domains box and it finished without issue.

    Thanks for the help Alex!

Like already mentioned, success of the link harvest run also depends on the PHP server settings which are often not changable by the webmaster.

I got the harvest running by setting the number of posts processed in one run to 1 (line 107: “$this->default_limit = 1;”) plus adding those domains to the exclude lists which refer to large media files.

    this is strange.
i have latest version of share this by alexking and link harvest by alexking
first my harvest wud work only untill 110/216 while i kno i have more than 350 posts
2nd it has nothin in its database, it shows me 25 links and if i click show posts it wud come back with none and if i click on show links it wud come back with none
if i enable share this it wont work on clickin neither show posts nor on show links

i made a test blog and used an old back up of my blog to import and had no trouble using link harvest as it was already activated and i imported my enteries got a msg

Warning: strstr(): Empty delimiter. in /test/wp-content/plugins/link-harvest.php on line 331

though its workin great but on my real blog its not workin.

Hey bdtmz, I had this same error on my new blog (https://overheardonline.com), and was able to fix it by adding something to the list of domains that Link Harvest should exclude. I just added my site’s domain and the problem seems to have gone away. Hope this is useful, good luck!
