• I am not able to provide a link to the website because I am building it on my Mac desktop with Local.? I am working with WordPress 6.3 and the Twenty Twenty Three theme with minimal plugins and the latest version of Local.

Something has changed. I used to see a toolbar with a link icon when I highlighted some text in a paragraph in a post. Now I don’t. Is the problem with my setup or has something changed? What is the simplest way to add a link to another website with text in a post?

  • If you’re using the default block editor, clicking anywhere in a Paragraph block (even without highlighting any text) should display the toolbar which has the link icon (shown below).

If this isn’t working for you, then there’s something wrong in your setup.

And if you’re using any other editor or block… well, then I can’t say what’s going on there.

Something is definitely wrong. If I am editing a page I get the expected behavior you describe, but if I am editing a post I never see the toolbar with the link icon. Do you have any suggestions as to how I trouble-shoot this?

I just discovered what seems to be the problem. In editing Posts I noticed that the Top Toolbar option for View was checked. If I uncheck it, the toolbar with the Link shows up when I click on a paragraph. I looked to see if it was unchecked when I was editing Pages, and it was. Needless to say this seems counter-intuitive to me since the Top Toolbar is supposed to enable one to “access all block and document tools in a single place.”
