I did remove that link in a testimonial but can try to recreate if it’s needed.

I need to see every misbehaving part in action to properly debug. It sounds like a simple CSS conflict that I can fix quickly.

    Recreated.

have a look at the sidebar.
actually all other testimonials there show up as a link as well..

The link General tidy up and hedge cut at the bottom of Chris from Bracknell’s testimonial is being cut off by the character limit in the widget. Without a closing tag, the whole thing becomes a link.

Try removing that link in the testimonial editor or increasing the character count in the widget to 1000.

    well…
thanks Chris, increasing number of characters helped but that’s not what I would like to see..
    – 1000 characters makes widget too big unnecessarily if testimonials are only few words..
    – 1000 characters forces “Read more testimonials link ” to show at the very bottom even if testimonial only has say 100 characters. Makes a huge gap between testimonial and “read more…”
    – 1000 characters shows too much and again takes too much space if these testimonials are indeed that long..

I understand it’s a free plugin, but maybe one day you will find a more elegant and permanent solution to this..

    Kindest regards

I agree. This is a definite shortfall of this plugin.

As I am not the author, all I can do is recommend workarounds.

I am working on my own version that solves this and other problems.

You might try numbers somewhere between 250 and 1000, maybe you can find a sweet spot where everything looks fine.

If you truly want just a few lines followed by “…” then removing all HTML tags like <a>, <div>, <p>, <span>, etc. from the testimonials and setting the character limit around 250 is the way to go.
