Link in Intro Text Box

Yes I am trying to put a Link in the Intro Text Box without any luck. I am well aware of how to hard code the html using the ‘a’ tag.
Example: WORDLINKED
However I cannot make this work. I have tried using the url from the browser of my About page and also the url that shows up when I hover over the chosen page to link to in the Pages/Edit section of my Admin panel.
Neither works and seems like it should be a simple fix although I am not finding a solution searching here or on Google.
What I get no matter what I try for the url is the same Home page only just below the Intro Box it says “WE’RE REALLY SORRY BUT THE PAGE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR DOES’T SEEM TO EXIST ANY LONGER. BLAH BLAH BLAH” from the index page loop kicking the url back to me.
All I want is to link one word to my second page. If I overlooked this topic and it is covered elsewhere I apologize. Could someone help or link me up with this information I seek please?
