Link issues post upgrade to 4.4

Hi, recently upgraded our wordpress to site to 4.4 after several years of not upgrading. I don’t recall the exact version we were on previously. I am having some link related issues as follows:
– None of my portfolio images when clicked on are keeping their URLs and taking me to the portfolio page itself, it instead takes me to the top level parent page where the portfolio item resides
(when I preview the item it looks fine and has the proper link)
– I also noticed not sure if it’s related but my publish updates dates are not updating once I re-publish content
– lastly the permalink for any new items I add aren’t set properly. I select a parent page but the link doesn’t contain the url of the parent for some reason
