• Hello

I have been updating some content of my site https://www.tacticfootball.co.uk today but for some reason the pages aren’t linking to the correct locations. In wordpress it is pointing to the correct permalink and when I manually type the page link into my web address bar (www.tacticfootball.co.uk/eton-college the page is there. However if I click on the Eton college link on the site it directs to another page within the site.

Any suggestions appreciated as I am pulling my hair out!

    Hi

Thanks for reply. In my page editor the link is correct. How do I fix in menu item?

Are you using a custom menu? Look under Appearance > Menu.

Also, your version of WP is quite outdated – which is a major security risk – so you should get that updated ASAP!

go to appearance ->menu and select your main menu navigation then remove the menu item and put it back in using the side articles (where you have check boxes) menu it will link automatically.

if that doesn’t work try going to setting and in permalinks put default and save.

see if it works like that then if it does go back to the setup you had. and see if it still works

Sorry but I don’t have a menu option under appearance. Just Themes, widgets or editor. I know all I need to do it edit the link of that tab on the homepage but I don’t know how lol!

Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked. You need to upgrade WordPress asap.

Long story. It’s my husbands business and his website. I have little involvement in it as I’m a mummy of two but basically his assistant has been doing the updates etc but has got into this mess. I have knowledge of content management as I used to be a Marketing Manager for a large automotive manufacturer but on much slicker platforms! I’ve tried updating the wordpress but it’s asking for FTP details?!

You can obtain the FTP login details from the hosting company. Unfortunately, that’s not something we can help you with,

Will do. Thank you for your help.

No problem. As this is a business site, updating it really should be a top priority. Just remember to:

    – backup the database
    – deactivate all plugins
    -switch to the 2010 theme

before beginning the upgrade. Leave it much longer and any future upgrade is going to be a lot more difficult.
