Link “Read more” in the subscription mail break the database access

Some news. This morning i have published a new post. My user clic on the link “Read more” and this stop my blog because of a CPU usage that reach 100% and the database is then not working anymore. I have been obliged to deactivate jetpack and the cpu usage is back to normal (2%)

So if you clic on the link in the initial post, jetpack being deactivated, you will not see the problem. But i cannot reactivate for the moment. Let me know if i can do some tests

I also have the same problem in my own blog and in my client’s blog. Read more -links stopped working a while ago. I tried also to click the old newsletter links (that have been working before) and they also go to a loop and never open the page. We are using the latest version of Jetpack (13.0).

I try to debug by myself. I have test by removing some arguments in the link. So i have test

I’m not at all a php expert, but I have dig inside the Jetpack plugin folder and found in wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/subscriptions the file

jetpack-user-content-link-redirection.php

I have put in comment what is at the end

The redirection link in the mail will go to the home page and there is no loop. I cannot go further with my php knowledge. But i need the other Jetpack function to work. So i have disable this one

I will come back to tell you if i see other side effect. Hope some jetpack support member will come to help

Hello, I need help with this exact same issue. The “Read more of this post” link has not be redirecting to the new blog post – but rather just a blank window.

Previously, the “Read more of this post” link would simply direct to the actual blog URL like the one below:

I will note however, that when users click the “Comment” button on the email rather than the “Read more of this post” link, they are actually able to reach the new blog post through the “Comment” button – although it lands them at the bottom of the post at the Comment section.

Hope there is a fix sometime soon! If anyone has any insights about my particular case, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share!

Same problem over here. You’re not the only one. I do love the new pop-up function though! I never got so many new subscribers!

The issue you all reported is quite odd, and we took some time to try replicating it on our end, with no success so far.

To assist you further, could you kindly confirm whether you are still experiencing this issue? If so, it would be incredibly helpful if you could click on “Read More” and share the link that is generated.?

I’d also recommend checking with your hosting service to see if there have been any unusual CPU spikes around the time the issue occurred. Your host will have tools and logs that can provide us with valuable insights. This resonates with other reports of the link throwing a database connection error, so our hunch is that something’s conflicting with the server’s settings.

@erania-pinnera I’m encountering the exact same issue.

If you are logged out or using incognito mode, when you click the URL link: “Read more of this post” from the email, it opens a blank window and it doesn’t redirect to the correct blog post.

I have a similar URL in the “Read more of this post” that always gets stuck and shows a blank screen.

However, if I’m a admin and I’m logged in into WordPress, when I click the URL”Read more of this post” in the newsletter notification email it opens and redirects to the correct blog post.

I would love to fix this issue, … All other links in the email notification work (the blog post title, the “Read on blog” link on the heaser, the “Comment” button”)

Hmm the plot thickens, I thought it was a temporary glitch that was sorted out already.

Are you able to reproduce it on screenshots or screencast to document that? We weren’t able to replicate it at all, so we’re like shootign in the dark because we don’t have data on our hands to investigate.

The fact that the link works when logged out or incognito makes me think that there might be conflicts with browser cookies and/or extensions: can you also check that for me?

Lastly, would you be able to check for JavaScript errors? If you’re not sure how to do that, you can follow this guide.?
