Link Shortening: Bit.ly Quickly Exceeds Rate Limit

    We are using the Social Pug bit.ly link shortening option for moneypit.com. The problem is that when activated, bit.ly is generating hundreds of links per hour and hits its maximum (10,000) link rate limit in a matter of hours.

    At that point, the bit.ly function stops working, all together. This counter resets once a month, but then repeats itself. Today, I wanted the bit.ly counter run up 545 bit.ly links, in less than an hour before I shut off link shortening.

    This is not the result of user traffic. It is being cause programatically.

    I would like to know why this may be happening, and what can be done to fix it.
