“Link to” changes from “Attachment Page” to “Custom URL”.

  • When I insert an image using “Add Media”, the “Link to” changes from “Attachment Page” to “Custom URL”.

    Reproduction Environment:
    WordPress 5.7.1
    Classic Editor 1.6

    1. Upload an image from the left sidebar “Media”.
    2. Click “Add Media” on the new post edit screen.
    3. Select the image you uploaded in step 1 (make sure “Link to” in “Attachment Display Settings” is “Attachment Page”).
    4. Click “Insert into post”.
    5. Click “Save Draft”.
    6. Click the “Edit” button of the inserted image.
    7. “Link to” in “Display Settings” is set to “Custom URL”.

    This happens only the first time you insert an image.
    It does not occur in the Classic block of the Block Editor.
