  • The generic “?last_webcomic” link goes to the front page on my site too — that might be just how it works. (Although if I add “=webcomic1”, it does link to that specific comic…wonder if “having more than 1 page” makes a difference.)

The widgets page has a “Last Webcomic Link” widget — you could put it after the menu, in the same section of your theme.

Or use a generic shortcode widget:

    [last_webcomic_link collection=”webcomic1″]Link text goes here[/last_webcomic_link]

(No idea how to change the collection ID, sorry.)

Thanks for the fast reply Erin!

I managed to figure out how to put the last comic widget *next to* my menu inside the header, so that sort of works. Still haven’t figured out how to put it *inside* the menu, but that’s my next task. I still wish there was a bookmarkable link I could put so that people could go directly to the last page. But you’ve given me a lot to work with! Thank you!

    Excellent!

If you’re willing to poke around in the CSS, you could figure out how to make it *look* like a menu link. Find the properties that control the appearance of the menu links, then make a copy of those and set them to affect “every general link in that division of the page.”

Just a follow-up to my last post. I’ve modified the css, and everything looks like it belongs, even in mobile versions of the site.

I am relying pretty heavily on this old post for help: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/most-current-page-bookmarkable-link/

A bookmarkable link is exactly what I want to give my readers. I’m afraid they won’t click through from my home page – but I don’t want to put the comic on my home page because I plan to add different comics later, and I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot. But the /?last_webcomic link still doesn’t work. I’m relatively new to WordPress and Webcomic; I didn’t upgrade, so there was nothing to back up.

We’re on WordPress 5.9.1, and Webcomic 5.06. The older post I’m relying on is from 7 years ago. I’m thinking it’s a compatibility issue, but I have no idea how to go about crawling into the code, let alone know what I’m looking at or how to fix it.

I guess I’m asking whether @mgsisk (or any other dev) is looking into the issue or not, which is making me feel like a tool. But like @sailorptah said, if it isn’t working on anyone else’s site, then it isn’t working.
