link to profile page instead of author archive page

hi there.. i’m not sure how to work this… but whenever i click on on the user name i want it to link to https://www.mywebsite.com/profile instead of https://www.mywebsite.com/author … in the settings i clicked for it to link to username profile … but it insist on routing to https://www.mywebsite.com/author… please help or advise. thank you kindly in advance.
