• I’d like a link to our home Web site in the sidebar of the default Twenty Fifteen theme.

I have observed that the appearance of the sidebar content often changes when the blog is viewed on an android smartphone.

What is the most-simple way to embed a HTML link to our home Web site so that it shows, and works, when clicked on either a pc or a mobile device, please?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Am I asking this question incorrectly?

I tried to use HTML in the Tagline and it was not recognized as HTML.

Where might I put the link, please?

    Excellent, thanks!

I’ve also just tried t create a Site Icon via Jetpack but don’t see it as a favicon or anywhere else on the site.

Do you know offhand if the Twelve Fifteen default theme handles that?

    I didn’t see a warning at any point …

And while I’m at it I read this …

… and wonder if you agree with their recommendations?

    Thanks again!

Sorry, something weird happened to the link code …

BTW: This is the blog I’m working on

Sure, they’re all decent advice – though you definitely need to use a password that’s hard to guess and at least 8 characters long.

For a favicon, I use this plugin:

I’ll check that out – but do you have any idea why the Jetpack Site Icon app may have failed?

OK, just went ahead and deactivated and uninstalled the jetpack Site Icon plugin and installed, activated, and generated the Favicon one … it appears to have worked … according to the app … but I don’t see anything on the Blog page when logged in as Admin.

I also tried logging out then just visiting the site and no evidence of a favicon viewed that way either.

I also don’t see anything on my smartphone.

Could it be that the default Twelve Fifteen theme doesn’t recognize a site icon/favicon?

    Thanks!

Try clearing the cache on your phone – it’s working for me.

It may be the browser I’m using on my phone, NBpro, it emphasizes privacy and efficiency over appearance.

It works on my wife’s tablet, not on my laptop using Firefox(could be a cache thing) – but does in Seamonkey, not on my smartphone (could be the browser as mentioned), and not on my son’s laptop running Chrome.

Very odd – I suspect something in the security settings of the browsers …

Yep, that sounds likely – Chrome can be really sticky on the cache. And favicons can take a bit of time to update.
