    Hello

I have a wordpress blog with Jetpack that was pre installed by my hosting company.
Usually when I publish a new post I share it on Linkedin. I just paste the URL into the share box in Linkedin and it automatically grabs the post tytle, as short excerpt and a thumbnail image of the post. I did not have to do anything, it just worked.

This worked for several months and 22 posts until yesterday when I published a new post.
This time Linkedin was unable to retrieve any information and I was left with only the URL text.
I tried to investigate and realized that Linkedin was using OGP tags to get the information.

I looked at the page source and I think that Jetpack is the only plugin I have that adds OGP tags to posts. I also remember that Jetpack was upgraded recently to a newer version, so the things may be related.

Do you know of such an issue with the latest Jetpack ? Did it change the way it manages OGP tags ?

    Thank you

    Guy

No, we didn’t make any changes there.

Could you post a link to one of the posts where you experienced issues, so I can take a closer look?

If you want your site URL to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

Thanks for the link! It looks like there is an issue with Jetpack’s connection on your site. That could explain the trouble you’ve been experiencing with Publicize.

Can you please try to disconnect and then reconnect Jetpack from WordPress.com? To do so, click on Jetpack from your site’s Dashboard and scroll all the way down where you’ll see a link that says “Disconnect from WordPress.com”. Click that to disconnect.

To reconnect, click the green button that says “Connect to Get Started” and follow the prompts.

Please let me know how that works for you, and we can go from there!

    Hello

I tried reconnecting Jetpack but unfortunately it did not seem to help…

    Thanks

Thanks for giving that a shot! The connection looks to be working properly now, but it seems Jetpack is having trouble syncing your data.

Can you try using our beta plugin? You can find a download link and instructions here:
    https://jetpack.com/download-jetpack-beta/

The beta plugin includes some improvements our developers have been working on for these kind of reported issues. As a result, using it should help resolve these issues.

Once you install and activate the beta plugin, go to Jetpack -> Jetpack Beta and choose “Tagged Beta Releases” and make sure the “Auto-Update Jetpack when new betas are available” is checked and click the “Save my choice” button.

After you’ve installed it, can you let me know if any of your current issues persist? If they do, please reply back and we can dive back into the problem.

Once we have a new release of Jetpack that addresses these problems, you can deactivate and delete this plugin.

Please let me know about the above, and we can go from there!

    Hello

I followed your instructions and I am now running JtePack beta. However, it did not remedy the problem.

It seems that the last non-beta release has broken something… It was working before.

    Thanks

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

I don’t see any new post on your site at the moment. Your existing LinkedIn updates can’t be updated anymore, so I’m afraid installing Jetpack Beta won’t help you with posts that are already published. Could you try to publish a new post, and let us know how it goes?

    Hi

Sorry, I thought it also affects older posts. I will post a new one and let you know.

    Thanks

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Great, I’m glad to hear that worked!

You can stay on the Beta version for now. Once a stable version is available, you’ll receive the usual notification in your dashboard, inviting you to update.
