• I have a category titled “lifestyle,” how can I link the blog posts I have under this category to my subcategory “tips” under my main menu tab “Check it” ??

  • Hi @gymjam,

The “Tips” page in the menu isn’t an actual category/subcategory, it’s just a page, which is why the posts aren’t showing up on it.

If you haven’t already created a Tips category/subcategory, you can do this under Posts > Categories. If you’ve already created the Tips category (separate from the Tips page), then you can go to Appearance > Menus and edit your menu to remove the Tips page and add the Tips category in there instead.

If you have any trouble, just let us know and we’ll be happy to help out.

    Thanks!

Great. That definitely fixed my issue. But now with my categories under the main menu, and me linking my posts to those categories, how can I make it to where when I click menu-> “Check it” -> “Tips” -> a preview of all of those posts pop up?

    Hi @gymjam,

I can’t see the site at the moment because of the Coming Soon page, so I’m not sure whether you’re referring to a preview on the category page that loads when you click the Check it > Tips link in the menu, or whether you’re wanting some type of preview in the menu itself. Could you possibly link to a site that has what you are wanting? Then hopefully I can provide instructions for how to achieve it.

    Thanks so much!

    1. I would like to know how to have a preview page of the various blogs posted under each category (tips, tea, travel) once the “check it” menu option is selected

    2. How can I do that same preview page, of just the posts within each subcategory (tips, tea, travel) when you click those options under the check it pulldown

    Hi Jamiee,

Are you talking about something like this?
    https://demo.lyrathemes.com/kale/category/appetizers/

If so, you can add the links for your category and subcategory pages within your menu, but if this isn’t what you’re looking for when you talk about a preview page, could you by any chance link to a site/page that has what you’re describing? That’ll give us a better idea of how to help.

    Thanks again!

I like the set up of being able to preview previous posts within that tab / category? Also, how would I be able to do the “about” widget on the right side of the webpage or the footer widgets, specifically the subscription box?

Thanks for the link, Jamiee! I apologize for the slow reply.

I’m not seeing any post previews except for on their category pages, but if you’re looking to add a drop down menu that links to your category pages, you can do this under Appearance > Menus…just create the links that you want to show up in the drop down, and then drag them to a slightly indented position beneath the parent menu item that you want them to display under. If you have any trouble doing this, let us know and we can help as much as you need.

The About widget and Subscription widget are elements in the Pro version of Kale, but you can either add a plugin to create your own, or if you’re handy with HTML + CSS, you can just use WordPress’s built in Custom HTML widget and enter anything you like in there. Your mailing list provider probably provides embed code for a subscription form that you can add in a Custom HTML widget as well.

Let us know if you have any questions!
