    Hi guys

I’m trying to connect a WooCommerce product catalog to the Facebook Catalog and page. After downloading the plugin I go through the motions from the ‘Get Started’ button connect all the Facebook assets, after selecting everything and clicking continue I just get stuck with a loading icon. I’ve cleared the cache, ensured all browsers don’t have a pop-up blocker activated, tried it in 3 different browsers, tried incognito mode etc all without success.

Is there a solution to progress this?

  • Hi @petemuzz,

Thanks for reaching out. I’m sorry to hear that the plugin is giving you a bit of trouble. Happy to help you with this!

It sounds like you’ve already taken quite a few steps here to try to troubleshoot this issue! To be sure that there isn’t something with the account that is not playing nicely, would it be possible for you to try again – this time creating any of the assets through the setup process? If that doesn’t work, would you please try another Facebook account?

I just want to see if we can narrow down where in the process this is getting tripped up.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

    Hi Marcus.

    Thanks for looking into this.

I’ve had a couple of developments. I got the clients to do thd setup through their account and they managed to get through the process but Woocommerce is still asking me to connect it to Facebook in the admin panel and although Facebook has the catalogue, the products have been updating for a 4 days with none pulling through as of yet.

    Hey @petemuzz,

Thanks for the update – I’m glad they were able to walk through the setup! To be clear, were they able to connect the WooCommerce site to Facebook? Are you able to see the connection details on the Facebook settings page in WooCommerce? When you say that the products have been updating for 4 days, have they been syncing to Facebook as well?

I’m interested to hear more about what’s working and what still needs some attention.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

    Hi Marcus

So, my client did get through the ‘Getting Started’ process but in WooCommerce’s Admin area Facebook does not look connected (it’s still asking us to ‘Get Started’). In Facebook the Catalogue is still trying to import the products but to no avail (there are only 70 products to import).

So essentially it looked like the setup was a success but it looks like its errored in both Facebook (which is stuck trying to upload products) and WooCommerce that doesn’t recognise the connection.

We have tried it with two accounts. I don’t have any additional Facebook accounts to try it with now so I’m unsure how to proceed.

    Thanks

    Pete

    Hey @petemuzz,

Thank you for sharing these details. I’m sorry that it is still not working as expected!

It sounds like we may need to try to step back a bit and see if we can get you connected again. We’ll want to clear out a couple of Facebook settings in your site’s options page and attempt the connection again.

Would you please surf to the options page in your site (https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/options.php) and clear the following fields:

    • wc_facebook_access_token
    • wc_facebook_business_manager_id
    • wc_facebook_external_business_id
    • wc_facebook_page_id
    • wc_facebook_pixel_id
    • wc_facebook_product_catalog_id
    • wc_facebook_system_user_id

This should give us a fresh starting point to try to reconnect. Since your client is the owner of the Facebook account, would you please ask them to try reconnecting after doing this?

    Thanks,
    Marcus

    Hi Marcus

I’ve navigated to the /options.php but the only Facebook option that exists that you’ve mentioned is ‘wc_facebook_external_business_id’.

However I’ve now gone through the process again through ‘Lets Get Started’ and I’ve been successful. The screen has now changed in WooCommerce showing the correct details and it looks like the catalogue has finally populated in Facebook.

Everything seems to have finally righted itself.

    Thanks for the help

    Pete

    Hey @petemuzz,

That’s great news! Thank you for keeping us updated on your progress and I’m happy to hear that it connected successfully for you this time.

Are there any other questions I can answer for you? Please don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Thanks,
    Marcus

    Hi Marcus

I guess my final questions would be:

In the Facebook Business Manager I don’t have permissions on the ‘WooCommerce Extension V2’ asset to develop, test or manage the app. The owner of the site doesn’t either and it was only us who set it up. How Do i get access?
I’m getting some error for my dynamic ads stating I’m missing some crucial meta data on the Page View and Purchase actions. Primarily that ‘Pixel Missing Parameters in DPA Events’ and it identifies the URL. From what I can see everything should be running smoothly.

    Thanks

    Hey Pete – @petemuzz,

Thanks for your reply. I’ll take a look at these individually.

In the Facebook Business Manager I don’t have permissions on the ‘WooCommerce Extension V2’ asset to develop, test or manage the app. The owner of the site doesn’t either and it was only us who set it up. How Do i get access?
This is expected, as the ‘WooCommerce Extension V2’ app is owned by Automattic (creators of WooCommerce) and is used as a proxy for the plugin to be able to connect to Facebook.

I’m getting some error for my dynamic ads stating I’m missing some crucial meta data on the Page View and Purchase actions. Primarily that ‘Pixel Missing Parameters in DPA Events’ and it identifies the URL. From what I can see everything should be running smoothly.
I’d be interested to see if there’s any additional information about what these parameters might be. We have seen this error a few times and have asked Facebook for some clarity, as it would seem that everything is being sent, but have yet to hear back from them. If you have any more information here, that would be very helpful!

    Thanks,
    Marcus
