Linking images to products failure

    I have uploaded product images via the standard media import tool first. Then I downloaded the relevant products export list using your plugin, added the URLs and tags for the product images and uploaded it again. Each product should now show a featured product picture and one picture in the gallery, each picture having a caption, a title, a name and a description. However, the products only show the first picture as product image, no picture in the gallery. And the product pictures have only caption and title but no description. Here is the CSV I had created and used for upload. I had double-checked that the picture URLs are correct.

    I’m showing only the first product since all the other 10 products are very similar. Also: I used semicolon in the selection screen, disregarded SKU for import and asked to only update products and not to import new products.

    Hi @thilo72,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

    The issue you are facing with the import is that the image data contains comma symbols, and the plugin considers the data after the comma symbol as an image URL. Could you please copy the code snippet from here and add it to the active theme’s functions.php file on your site and check if the image import is working or not?

    Hi! Thank you, the plugin improved the situation. There is still problems, though.
    1) all spaces are ignored in alt, title, label and description
    2) WC still considers the images not linked

    How can I solve that?

    Hi @thilo72,

    We have made a small update to the code snippet. Can you please try copying the latest code snippet from here and replacing the old snippet and check if the image metadata is imported properly?

    Regarding “WC still considers the images not linked”, could you please share a screenshot of the issue and the import log file?

    Could you please try opening those images and check if they are marked as linked on the image edit page? Also, could you please let us know if you are using any image related plugins on your site and share your system status report via support?

    1. The concerned images are also not showing any link on the editing page.
    2. I am not aware of any image related plugins on my site.

    Hi @thilo72,

    As mentioned in the support ticket, we checked the issue, and when manually adding images to existing products, they do not show as attached in the media library, even if they are added to the products. However, when creating a new product with an image, it does show as attached.

    It seems like this is how it works in WooCommerce since it occurs with manually created products too. Hence, we can assure you that the issue is not due to any bug in the plugin.
