Hi everyone, I’ve tried a few different things and searched the neve documentation but so far I haven’t found a solution.

I am using the Neve theme on a website. I would like to link to a page on Wikimedia to credit a photo that I want to use. This is the URL to that page: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stormont_Castle_front,_Stormont_Estate.jpg

If I try to link to that URL on the site, when someone clicks on it, the site attempts to open the media file in a browser viewer. I can only assume that this is because ‘File:’ is in the URL path. But I don’t want to open the file in a media viewer, I want to link directly to the page on Wikimedia.

You can see the behaviour that I am talking about in the link that I’ve attached with this post.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the behaviour might be something to do with the Neve theme. Has anyone seen anything like this before and know how to get around it?

Your help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks very much.

    Eoin

  • Hi Eoin,

I was able to add that link without an issue, as you can see here https://vertis.d.pr/v/BLPQdi

Maybe you can check that, and see if you were adding the link in a different way.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Rodica,

Thank you for taking the time to help – I really appreciate it. It turns out that the behaviour is actually due to the Elementor plugin and how it treats URLs that end in jpg. I got around it by linking to a highlight on the page therefore resulting in a URL that doesn’t end in jpg.

    Thanks again
