Linking to custom category

I am using a template that has created a custom category for video posts. When I try to link the category to the “catlist” function. The category has a number, but I guess since it is not under posts it does not work.
The video category is listed as “videoscategory”.
Is there support for a custom category or a way to link it to the video category as a whole?
