Links changed to _trashed/original URL

    When I go to this link in my website:
    https://martingordon.de/discography/

    and select this URL:
    https://martingordon.de/fish

    I am actually taken to this URL:
    https://martingordon.de/discography__trashed/fish/

    even though the item discography_trashed does not exist. This link is also reported as a broken link.

    The only changes I have made in recent days was to include this link in a TablePress table. Do you have any insight into this issue? It also occurs with other URLs, all now included in the table. All such faulty URLs are (or are intended to be) accessed via the top menu Discography. I have deactivated TablePress to troubleshoot, but to no effect.

    Any thoughts most welcome!

    For example, the same thing occurs with https://martingordon.de/kimono-my-house/, which directs me to https://martingordon.de/discography__trashed/kimono-my-house/

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    From what I can see, this is a problem with the “Discography” page. Could it be that it exists twice or so? It seems that one copy of it has a so-called “slug” (in the “permalink”) with that “__trashed” appended. You should be able to see that in the sidebar when editing that page.

    I can however assure you that TablePress has nothing to do with this. The links in the tables are all correct, and they are what the browser first navigates to. WordPress then however issues a redirect to that “wrong” URL for some reason.

    Many thanks for your reply, Tobias. The odd thing is that there is no page called ‘discography’. It is merely a blank entry in a menu, which has two sub-links, each leading to an existing page.

    The strange ‘_trashed’ suffix only began to appear when I entered all my TablePress links into a table, whereas they were earlier contained in text blocks…. Somehow this is a redirect error, as you suggest.

    there certainly is a Discography page, the one that you mention: https://martingordon.de/discography/

    Still, TablePress has nothing to do with this, so that I can only recommend to check for such redirects on pages again, sorry ??

    Yes, of course there is, my mistake. It is this page which contains the TablePress ID: [table id=3 /]

    Hi,

    yes, exactly ?? Can you check if there’s maybe a post or page “somewhere else”, like actually in the trash, with the same name or similar slug?

    Well, that was enormously helpful – there it was in the trash, the former version of ‘discography’. Now fixed and indeed as you say, nothing at all to do with your most useful plug-in!
