After updating from 5.9.15.7 to 6.0.9 , all links disappeared with the error message that they need to be assigned to categories.

I attempted the fix you suggested in another thread (re-importing the links), but got this message when trying to access the program: “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”

I have reverted to 5.9.15.7. This has been a great program… I’ll wait for further revisions. Best of luck with it!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi Sally, Are you an administrator user on the site? Or do you have a lower permission level?

Also, to be sure, the fix you tried was to press the re-import links button under the General Options page, right?

This is the first report I am getting of such an error message. Could you send me the contents of the address bar from your browser when you get this error message?

I know this implies an upgrade, test, and downgrade, but it would help understand what is happening.

Thanks for your response! I’ll be glad to help. Yes, I’m an admin. (The only admin actually. ?? )

Okay, here we go… update… links disappear, replaced by this message:

“All of your links must be assigned at least to one category to be displayed”

From admin area, click on Link Library (or any of its sub-menus), and get this message:

“Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”
    …URL in browser: https://defordmusic.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=link-library

Restore previous version (using UpdraftPlus), links re-appear, I can access Link Library again, and all is well.

(Just to be clear, I could not press the re-import links button under General Options, because after the update I wasn’t able to access the General Options page–or any Link Library page.)

    Hope that helps!

The admin link is wrong. After you update to the latest version, the top page of the Link Link Library admin will be here: https://defordmusic.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=link_library_links.

On the left side, the menu you will want is called Link Library and not Links.

Yep, using the “Link Library” selection, not the native WordPress one.

Hmmmm… after some messing about, here’s what I find:

    1. After the update, the “Link Library” menu on the left pointed to the old version until I *manually* refreshed the browser screen. Then the link worked, and looked as you specify above. Seems obvious, but since the page had refreshed after the update I didn’t consider it.

    2. The “categorylistoverride” numbers have changed. (Why??????? Heavens.) Finding the new numbers wasn’t intuitive. You should probably add a temporary message explaining this, and where to find the new numbers.

The good news is, after doing the above, it’s all working properly.

Thanks for your time and help. Happy Wednesday!

Hmmmm…. except…. now I can’t the the captcha on the link submission form to show up. ??

Until I turn it on and off… so that’s fixed as well. ??

One other issue… the “Link category override selection list” in the user submission form appears to be doing nothing at all. All of my link categories are showing up, no matter how many categories I enter.

    Am I misunderstanding this function?

These must be bugs in the new version. I will investigate by Saturday. Sorry for the trouble.

No worries! It’s still a great program. ??

    Hi,
I tried to correct the The “categorylistoverride” numbers have changed” problems by inserting the new category ID as the categorylistoverride value. Result is all links in the database are listed. 6.09.

Sally, the “Link category override selection list” field in User Submission will work correctly in 6.0.10 update, available in next hour or so.

I also just added an extra column to the category list showing their IDs, to make it easier to find them.
