a.ab-item is missing the name and doesn’t work with some screen readers. Can you fix this accessibility problem please?

Thanks for opening a support topic @a4jpcom. This opportunity you’re seeing is a PageSpeed Insights metric, and not something that is impacted by using Site Kit. It’s also not something that can be addressed within Site Kit, as in order to address this it requires changes to all links on your website. Modifying your site content isn’t something within the scope of Site Kit, although PageSpeed Insights can help you flag where such opportunities occur as you discovered.

You’ll find out more on this opportunity specifically, and how to address it by visiting this resource.

You can also use the Search Console Help Community for more assistance on this opportunity you’re finding within PageSpeed Insights.

No. It just just the icon that your plug adds to the admin area. The G for Google. Sorry if my explanation isn’t clear enough.

Thanks for the update @a4jpcom. If you’re referring to the internal Site Link links, such as the plugin menu link, I’d be happy to check this with the team. Thanks for checking up on this, I’ll report back to you here once we discuss the plugins accessibility based on your query.

It should be a super easy update. My screen is smaller so I just see the letter G as an icon at the top. But yes, that one.

Thanks for your patience on this @a4jpcom. I created a GitHub issue based on your suggestion. You’ll find this below, on the plugins GitHub repository:
    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/7343

Feel free to add any comments to that issue, or let me know if I missed anything.

@a4jpcom Just to follow up on this issue. As we’re still investigating this based on your report, can you share what screenreader you’re using so we can replicate this? Alternatively feel free to share a recording of your experience and I can add notes to the GitHub issue.

    Hi @a4jpcom,

I’m just following up with you to check if you’ve have an opportunity to review the GitHub issue created in relation to your query? If you can share the screen reader where you’re encountering this accessibility opportunity we can check this further.

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
