links do not work properly in posts

if I put it in the excerpt it works — anyone know how I can get the links to function when I do not use the excerpt and part of the post shows on the homepage?

looks like your index.php (theme template that controls layout) uses the_excerpt in the code. This strips out pretty much all formatting to include links. the_content does not strip out formatting, however it shows the entire post which probably won’t look great on your layout.

Yup, it just gives you pretty much your text straight up. Useful for magazine style themes, etc, where all the posts should look the same.
